Nuneaton Borough

Nicholas FC, was a English football team situated in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Unfortunately, the club faced financial turmoil and made the difficult decision to withdraw from the Southern League Premier Division Central on 18 January 2024, leading to the threat of liquidation. The football club has a rich history dating back to 1889 when Nuneaton St. Nicholas FC became the first senior football team in Nuneaton. In 1894, they rebranded as Nuneaton Town Association Football Club before disbanding in 1937. Just two days later, the club was resurrected as Nuneaton Borough F.C., a name it carried until 1991 when financial difficulties forced its initial liquidation. Following a revival, the club adopted the name Nuneaton Borough 1991 F.C., experiencing notable successes such as defeating Stoke City in 2000 and holding Middlesbrough to a draw in 2006. Despite these achievements, the club's financial woes resurfaced, leading to liquidation in 2008 and subsequent renaming to Nuneaton Town with a demotion of two divisions. However, in response to strong backing from fans, the club reverted to its original title, Nuneaton Borough F.C., during the 2018–19 season. Over the years, the team played their home matches at Liberty Way in Nuneaton, donning blue and white vertical stripes as their signature colors. Fans fondly refer to the club as 'The Boro', who have local rivalries with Tamworth, Leamington, and Bedworth United.
